Is it like Zumba?
Sample dance steps are part of the programme; however STRONG by Zumba™ is a more athletic, conditioning style workout, well suited for those who love to move but are not comfortable in a full-out dance class.
Do I have to be fit to join the class?
Yes, some level of fitness is required, STRONG by Zumba™ is an interval or intermittent intensity style program. This means that high intensity moves (such as high knees, burpees, jumping jacks, etc.) are interchanged with lower intensity moves (like lunges, jump rope, kickboxing) throughout the entire workout, making a STRONG by Zumba™ class doable, even for those starting out less fit. At the same time, the STRONG by Zumba™ program can provide an incredibly high energy, maximum demand workout for more fit individuals, challenging them enough to take them to new personal heights of fitness achievement.
Are there different levels of exercises?
Yes, there are different levels to each exercise, the Instructor will usually demonstrate the medium intensity, and will give the option for lower impact. As the class progresses the instructor will progress each exercise to push the participants creating a whole dynamic to the workout.
Is it a mixed class?
Yes, it is a class for both men and women
What are the benefits?

Will I burn calories, tone up, improve my cardio?
Yes definitely, a Strong by Zumba class can burn between 400-500 calories.
How long is the class?
A typical Strong by Zumba class is 55 minutes, this gives time for active recovery between quadrants. Fitjoy are currently running this class at 45 minutes, so each quadrant has been shortened.
Do the routines change?
Yes, a new Quadrant is usually released into the class every 6 weeks. This gives the participants time to get to know the current routines to maximise their workouts. A new quadrant will then start to challenge their mind and body to take their fitness to a new level.
